This manifesto draws together beliefs and ideas from discussions held during the Action for ESOL campaign in 2010-2011 – in particular two seminars in June and September 2011, which were held to debate fundamental issues about the very nature of the ESOL profession itself. The manifesto is the result of many hours of shared thinking amongst a large group of people and is intended to raise crucial issues for practitioners, learners and policymakers alike. We recognise that the ESOL profession is diverse, and not everyone will agree. Please read it and let us know what you think!
